Discouragement may creep into our lives more times then we care to admit nevertheless it shouldn’t be permanent or overpowering.
As long as we keep our focus and continue to get up each and everytime we are knocked down. Remember the Hare and the Tortoise.
For all of you who ever have been discouraged?
There was a man who failed in business in ‘31.
He was defeated for the legislature in ‘32.
He failed again in business in ‘34.
His sweetheart died in ‘35.
He suffered a nervous breakdown in ‘36.
He was defeated in election in ‘38.
He was defeated for Congress in ‘43, ‘46, and ‘48.
He was defeated for the Senate in ‘55.
He was defeated for the Vice-presidency in ‘56.
He was defeated again for the Senate in ‘58.
Yet in 1860 Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States of America.
Abraham Lincoln said on September 7, 1864, “In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Saviour gave to the world was communicated through this book” in replying to Loyal Coloured People of Baltimore upon the Presentation of a Bible.
The Apostle Paul said, “In every way we’re troubled, but we aren’t crushed by our troubles; We’re frustrated, but we don’t give up; We’re persecuted, but we’re not abandoned; We’re captured, but we’re not killed.”
